During November, the Enbecom contributions to Ecologi helped to fund key projects and plant several trees across the globe. This includes reforestation projects in the UK. Ecologi’s reforestation partners are revitalising native ecosystems across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. By collaborating with local communities, they are restoring biodiversity in one of Europe’s most nature-depleted regions.

Planting trees in the right locations delivers numerous benefits. Trees mitigate flooding, provide shade during heatwaves, act as windbreaks, and retain moisture in increasingly dry environments. They reduce soil erosion, improve soil health, and store carbon, supporting both human life and native wildlife. Healthy ecosystems offer essential services like clean air and water, as well as spaces for recreation and cultural connection.

The Future Forest Company plants native broadleaf trees to create thriving habitats, avoiding monocultures. They also lead biodiversity restoration projects such as wetland and peatland rehabilitation and protect Scotland’s rainforest. Over 1 million trees have been planted, with over a quarter funded by Ecologi customers. This work is helping re-establish wildlife across their sites, and the team conducts regular surveys to track species return.

Dumyat, a 480-hectare estate in Stirlingshire and Clackmannanshire, exemplifies sustainable land management through woodland creation and habitat restoration. Over 340,000 trees have been planted, enhancing biodiversity with wetland, meadow, and pond development. Surveys ensure species are matched to areas where they can thrive while preserving archaeological and ecological features.

This site is a haven for wildlife, including Heath spotted-orchids, Common rockrose, Red kites, and the rare Sticky catchfly flower. Efforts are underway to protect and boost the numbers of endangered species like the Northern brown argus butterfly and Red squirrels. Volunteers, including Stirling University students, have planted wildflowers, transforming degraded grasslands into pollinator-rich habitats.

Dumyat also promotes community engagement, with improved accessibility encouraging visitors and providing outdoor education opportunities for all ages.

The Future Forest Company’s projects demonstrate the transformative potential of reforestation, blending environmental restoration with community and educational benefits. Together, we can create a greener future.
