Drupal 8, the latest and greatest major release of the Drupal content management system (CMS) and a solid foundation for some pretty major websites around the world, is nearing release.  This collaborative effort from coders all over the planet, given to the world as an open-source project, will deliver a wealth of new and improved features that’ll make the web even better.  From a wider range of field types to make information easier to input and process, to mobile-friendly administration and in-place content editing (a big improvement for content managers), the extensive overhaul from Drupal 7 to 8 will have a big impact.

This weekend saw another great Drupal #SprintWeekend where teams and individuals around the world got together to work on all the new features and close down outstanding issues.

Thanks to this and other #SprintWeekend efforts plus the day-to-day endeavours of Drupal core and module developers, Drupal 8 is almost there and we wish everyone involved good luck in getting over the finishing line to a full release!
